WORKSHOP SCHEDULE JUNE 6 -9, 2024

Friday

9-11am

Ellen Evert Hopman. Druid Magic. The Druids were the “nemed” (sacred) class of Celtic society for one thousand years. Hereditary priests and intellectuals, they were the equivalent of Brahmins in Indian culture, part of the Indo-European continuum. They were the judges, lawyers, healers, teachers, priests, priestesses, sacred singers, poets, historians, philosophers and magicians for the tribes. It took twenty years to train a Druid and some of their magical techniques are still known to us today. This will be a talk on some of the ancient Druid magical techniques such as wind augury, ornithomancy, divination by Ogham, the Sword of Light, The Vessel of Plenty, the Silver Branch, Illumination between the Hands, and the three kinds of harp music. How did the highest grade of Druid, the Fili, achieve Imbas or Awen, a type of divine prophetic inspiration? What are the techniques known as Recital from the Ends of the Fingers, Crane Magic, the Bull Feast? What ancient Druidic tool can be used to attract the Good Neighbors, and how will we know when they appear? Magical Poetic Satire will be discussed; under which tree did the poets stand to compose a powerfully effective satire? And what were the consequences for a king? Which is the only recorded Druid ritual that we have and can still perform today? Did the Druids really burn animals or people in a Wicker Man? What are the mystical meanings of the sacred five directions and the Three Worlds and how do you set up a genuinely Celtic ritual space? What are the Celtic sacred animals associated with the directions and what are their magical powers and attributes?

Devanna Wolf.  Awakening Your Creative Fire with Brigid.  Brigid is a quintessential goddess of Creativity. She traditionally governs the arts of poetry and smith craft, but her magic transcends the limitations of media, discipline and style. In my Goddess cosmology, Brigid is the divine spark that fuels our creative fire. In this workshop we will explore ways to infuse Brigid’s magic into your creative process through guided meditation and a group DIY craft project. Devanna Wolf is a priestess and sibyl of the Mt Shasta Goddess Temple, as well as a sacred artist, jeweler, and teacher. Devanna self-published a tarot and oracle deck, and co-teaches the Via Carmen Pythia, a 2 year sibyl training program offered in the Temple with Mandala Priestess Yeshe Matthews.

11-1pm

Chic Cicero. The History of the Golden Dawn.  No organization has had a greater impact on Western Ceremonial Magic than that of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a magical fraternity that was founded in London in 1888 by a group of Qabalists, Rosicrucians, Freemasons, and Theosophists. One would be hard-pressed to find a magical Order in the U.S. or in Europe that has not borrowed heavily from the teachings of the Golden Dawn. The Order was not wealthy, nor did it attract large numbers of people. Nevertheless, nearly every portion of the Golden Dawn’s curriculum of study has been absorbed into modern Western magic and esoteric belief. Standard Golden Dawn rituals and exercises, such as the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram and the Middle Pillar Exercise, have been adopted by numerous other magical fraternities, Wiccan circles, and even New Age groups. This lecture which will examine the origins of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn as well as the individuals who founded the Order.

Stars By Joseph. Introduction to Astrology for Magickal Practitioners with Live Mini-Readings.  All knowledge and experience levels are welcome! Join us to review astrology sign basics (4 elements and 3 qualities) and reflect on outer planet movements correlating with dramatic worldwide changes (Pluto into Aquarius 2024/2025, Jupiter into Gemini May 2024). You can also volunteer your birth info for a live mini-reading! Participants can receive a copy of their Natal Astrology Chart and some essential guidance with interpretation. While astrology is a complex spiritual science, Joseph will ground you in its elemental roots to help uncover the sacred "As above, So below" wisdom cultivated through the centuries. We recommended attending this workshop prior to attending  Ivo Dominguez, Jr.’s ‘Magick with the Natal Chart’ if you don’t already have a thorough knowledge of your natal chart.

2-4pm

Yeshe Matthews. Calling in Your Celestial Guides. The cosmos is a vast expanse of limitless energy, power, and potential, and each of us is a traveller in this cosmic web of light. We all have access to the incredible network of energy that underpins all material existence. Carl Sagan once famously said, “The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”  This statememmt is both scientifically and spiritually true. In this workshop, we will learn about some of the stars, planets, and celestial bodies that shine down on us, learning the unique characteristics of each. We will then and undertake a guided journey to meet a specific Celestial Guide to invite into our magickal workings as an ally, a wisdom presence, a healer, a teacher, and a luck-and-joy-bringer. After our journey, we will ground the power we have brought back from our cosmic visitation in a simple ritual and sharing circle. Come shine with us!

Trisha Parker. Screening & Discussion of ‘Nature’s Best Hope - Conservation That Starts in Your Yard with Doug Tallamy”.  Produced by the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, renowned entomologist, ecologist, and best-selling author Doug Tallamy discusses how we can create home landscapes that enhance local ecosystems, rather than degrade them – to serve as sustaining refuges for native plants and animals.

Tallamy’s first book, Bringing Nature Home, awakened many to how, “everyone with access to a patch of Earth can make a significant contribution toward sustaining biodiversity by simply choosing native plants.” Nature’s Best Hope is the next step in his vision for grassroots conservation. In it, Tallamy provides practical, effective, and achievable suggestions for how yards can be transformed into conservation corridors. Through individual action, he urges us to become part of the solution by shrinking lawns, planting natives, restoring beneficial insects, and creating connectivity.

Ivo Domiguez, Jr.  Plant Spirit Magick.   The use of herbs, resins, and plant materials in magick and healing requires more than good recipes and solid techniques in their creation and use. In addition to the physical and psychological impact of the materials, there are also a wide array of energies and spiritual entities that are accessed through plant materials. This workshop will primarily focus on the magick and the energy of plant materials. Tami Nelson.  Finding Your Sponsor Deities. It can be challenging when you are starting a new spiritual path to find the guides and deities who are already watching over you. What would you say if you knew you were loved by someone, but you have to discover who they are on your own? They were impressed by that thing you did two years ago. They want to support you so you can become the person you were meant to be. Would you try to figure out who that individual was? Would you like help to find them? The gods and goddesses are not as scary or intimidating as you may think they are. You are important, loved, and supported. Come find out how to know and tap into that truth.

6-630pm Opening Ritual

7-9pm Meet -n-Greet with headliners. Join us for a catered social with wine & beer bar.

9-11pm

Yeshe Matthews. The Oracle at Delphi: Know Thyself. For over 2000 years, the mountain temple of Delphi and its mysterious Pythia influenced the world with maxims, predictions, and prophecies. Today, we can still study over 150 maxims uttered by the Sibyls of Delphi, with three of them being so universal that they were inscribed on the entrance to the Temple of Apollo: "Know thyself," "Nothing in excess," and "Give a pledge and trouble is at hand.” In this workshop, we will learn about how the unique culture, beliefs, and geography of Delphi informed the practice and messages of the Pythia. We will unpack these three Maxims and some of the others to see how they relate to our lived experiences, examine how the maxims still effectively describe the human condition and our relationship to power, and we will critique a few of the maxims that have not withstood the test of time. We will conclude with a ceremony and meditation wherein we will call upon the gods of Mount Parnassus, and we will each embody the Pythia's abilities, offering each other words of wisdom for modern times.

Manny Tejeda y Moreno.  Into the Cemeteries and on to the Wild.  It looks easy on paranormal TV shows, but approaching the wild and abandoned cannot be done with wild abandon. Florida’s wilderness is littered with lost cemeteries, ghost towns, and even deserted missile silos.  For urban and wilderness explorers, there can be real, spiritual, and even magickal dangers found in forgotten spaces in the landscape.  This workshop is about the precautions we must take when entering areas that have been lost to the wild. We will discuss practical things that must happen prior to entering these spaces that include careful planning and communication.  We will also review and advise on important spiritual and magickal preparation before trekking into these spaces whether they are in urban settings or deep in the backwoods.

Screening and Discussion of Nature’s Best Hope - Conservation That Starts in Your Yard.
